Street Portrait Commission...

This week I was handed a great commission to work with BBC Leicester and De Montfort University to create a series of portraits which will form part of the University Square Mile project.

The project involves collecting stories from people in the city which relay an idea of how they came to the city, their journey, their history and what the city means to them. My job was to shoot portraits and I had a great response from most people who seemed pretty happy to have their photograph taken. The images will be used as advertising and promotional material for the project.

Every city is full of characters and diverse communities and Leicester is an example of how these communities come together to form a rich tapestry of religions, beliefs and backgrounds.

I find street portraits challenging and rewarding but I really enjoy the chance to talk and listen to the people I photograph...
